Homegrown Cuts
Winner
The winner of last weeks' Homegrown Cuts was Chopper with 'Can’t Play Bass'
Check out the winning track.
Chopper is a DJ and producer from Peterborough. He has been
making drum & bass and chilled breaks for 14 years.
Chopper got his name whist working in a skate shop, when he
used to ride a chopper bike to work. The name suited his first
LP ‘Chop Dub’ and so stuck. He first started making music with
simple technology such as an Amiga 500 and Octamed 5.
Chopper’s musical influences have grown over the last 12 years
taking in all the various music he has listened to. His production
has been inspired by the likes of London Electricity, Bad Company,
2 Bad Mice, Plump DJs, Adam Freeland and DJ Hype. Chopper can
regularly be seen playing out at The Verve in Peterborough.
He mixes his selection dropping some of his own tunes alongside
breaks and DnB flavas.
Whilst sending demos to major labels, Chopper has also set up
a website to promote his own material and sell it over the net.
By logging onto http://www.chopperchoons.com/ you can listen
to and buy Chopper’s tracks.
Chopper spoke live to Ras on Sunday night’s show. He revealed
that he is currently working hard in the studio on a new track
called ‘Better Than Sax’. There will be a couple of remixes
available through his website. Although Chopper has no plans
to release his music personally he is looking for support that
could help him get his material onto the streets.
